Steven von Berg – President
Steve is a 20+ year veteran of the information technology industry. Steve spent the first decade of his career in various sales and leadership roles within HP. In 1995, Steve and a partner founded “Synergy”, a systems integration company in Rochester, NY. Steve and his team grew Synergy, building a highly successful enterprise-level server, security and storage practice, partnering mostly with customers across Western New York. In 2004, Steve merged Synergy with another system-integration business and became President of “Synergy Global Solutions”, a company that produced $65M in annual revenue.
Throughout his career, Steve had a strong desire to help defend his customers from the increasing numbers and severity of information security threats. Specifically, he wanted to see his small and medium enterprise clients be just as protected as their global enterprise competitors whose deep pockets permitted a level of spending that his SME clients simply could not afford.
With this vision in place, Steve brought together a team of exceptional partners that could provide the superior knowledge and expertise that those organizations needed to protect themselves. The Pervasive team then established key partnerships to bring forth a portfolio of services and solutions that would allow small and medium-sized enterprises to reach enterprise class security levels at affordable prices.

Steve holds a Masters Degree from The University of Rochester in Finance and Marketing and a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from St. John Fisher College.
Steve has recently joined the InfraGard Organization – an FBI affiliated security council - as a newly elected board member of the local chapter.
Steve also serves on the boards of several community organizations including Roberts Wesleyan College, Northeastern Seminary, The School of The Holy Childhood, and Nazareth College Entrepreneurial Partnership. Steve is also a member of the Young Presidents Organization.
Mike McClure – Chief Operating Officer
Mike is a proven leader of technology organizations, with over 25 years of experience in the healthcare technology world. Prior to joining Pervasive Solutions, Mike was the Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer (CIO) of ViaHealth System, a healthcare provider with 7,500 employees and $600 million in revenue.
Mike’s diverse management responsibilities have included all aspects of the organization’s IT infrastructure, oversight for the applications portfolio, voice and data networks, information and systems security, business contingency planning, HIPAA compliance, and business process reengineering.
Mike is a guest lecturer at Rochester Institute of Technology, University of Rochester, and Nazareth College; as well as a presenter at Sun Microsystems' Worldwide Education Research Conference (WWERC). In addition, Mike is a member of a CIO Roundtable, the Worldwide Executive Council and the United Way Technology Committee.
Liam Downward – Chief Security Officer
Liam is a recognized expert in the security industry, currently holding over 14 professional and technical certifications including Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer in Windows Security (MCSE Security), Symantec Certified Security Practitioner (SCSE), and Citrix Certified Enterprise Administrator (CCEA).
Liam's experience includes the design, implementation, and maintenance of security solutions in healthcare, financial services and manufacturing environments. In addition, he has led and/or contributed to the development and implementation of security policies and procedures for a variety of global organizations.
Liam also has extensive understanding of necessary compliance regulations, including Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), and Securities and Exchange Commission Rule 17a-4 (SEC 17a-4).
In 2001, while living and working in the state of Hawaii, the Lieutenant Governor of Hawaii awarded Liam the honor of being one of the top 100 high-tech leaders in the state.
